There's a couple vendors listed in the "Transmissions" section of
http://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/restore2003.html that are PB Mopar 
trans familiar. You can call and tell them you saw the listing there and 
see if they will brainstorm the problem with you. (Cope Racing 
Transmissions & Pat Blais). 

I think the FSM calls for doing a hydraulic pressure test when the 
shifts are erratic.

Hum, are you sure the cable is good and not hanging up somewhere?
