You can also go to a pick-a-part self-serve type junkyard and rummage
through the newest wrecks. New cars use lots of padding type sound
reduction material that could probably be had for next to no money. Then
improvise to use on your Mopar.
Just beware that you don't pull this stuff from a vehicle once submerged
under water. :)

Apologies in advance for this slightly off-topic post ...
My son just took a job in Huntsville, Alabama, at an aircraft maintenance
contractor. This is his first _real_ job - he is in the Army National
Guard, and his specialty is airframe repair.
His employer is letting him borrow their tools for now, but he's trying to
find used tools and a rolling tool chest.
I would be grateful if anyone on the list knows of anyone or anyplace in the
Huntsville area ( probably within a couple hours drive ) that might be able
to help him out.
By the way, he is the reason I have my '62 Dart ... he found it in a Best
Buy parking lot here in Novi, MI about 4 years ago and called me :-)

Does anyone have their battery mounted in the trunk of their car, for whatever purpose (weight distribution for racing, to clean up the engine compartment, etc)?
If so, are there any problems or difficulties with having it mounted there?
I'm considering mounting mine there, if for no other reason than to clean up the engine compartment. I've heard though that I need to beware of venting issues, anyone have any knowledge of this?
Summit has a trunk mount battery kit for about 40 bucks that I'm looking at getting.

The Insulator works great for the Passenger compartment floors and fire
wall.
Eastwood carries it but I would recommend getting it from a local speed
shop
instead because, one, you can probably get it cheaper and, two,
Eastwood cuts
theirs down to half the manufacturers width. Check the manufacturers

Hi Andy,
I would definitely recommend a sealed battery box that vents to the
outside via a breather tube.
The battery off gasses are combustible and a friend of mine had a nice
explosion in the trunk
of his race car before switching to the sealed w/ venting type of box.

Andy-
I have two cars with batteries mounted in the trunk, one is a race car. On
my race car, I'd recommend getting a sturdy bracket from Summit or Jegs that
has 3 sides to it. I always ran a dry cell and just converted to a 16 volt
dry cell, so no fumes. On my weekend car, I have a regular battery bracket
that you can get a Pep Boys that is only a bottom plate. I run a Interstate
battery and never had any fumes. Just make sure you run a hold down bracket.
I use 1 guage and 0 guage cables and ground it to my scattershield. I think
the guage and ground cable is critical to alleviate any starting problems.

Hi Andy, I had the battery in the trunk in my 63 Savoy for weight transfer
for about 9 years with no problems. My suggestions are use a better battery
than you would in the front and a good starter. NHRA requires a marked
on/off switch mounted on the outside of the car and for good reason. In case
of emergency no one can just open the hood and pull a battery cable off.
Other than that, they do look better out of sight. Good luck,

Fellers,
Are there any other ways to clean/polish up rusty nuts and bolts? I was (note the past tense) using the media blaster at the Auto Hobby shop here on base, until it broke. It was a real fine media powder and it worked great cleaning up threads on bolts, nuts, etc.
There is no other place on the island where I can get/use that fine media, I'm stuck with regular sandblasting which won't really do what I need.
I thought I read/heard about someone using one of those rock-polishing type vibrator or tumblers to clean up their bolts, anyone know about this?
Any suggestions - I'm open!

1962 Custom 880 taillights are the same units as all 1962 Chryslers
1963 880 taillights are unique to 1963 although the rear quarter panels were
carried over from 1962.
1964 units are unique to 1964 and were large horizontal units.
1965 units are the same as the 1965 Polara - they shared Mopar's new C body
that year and nothing non-mechanical interchanges with 1962-64.

Definately not. All 880 tailights are one year vintage I believe. 64 and
65
might be the same, Im not sure. 62 is a one year tailight as well as 63.

Speaking of heater controls, I've got a 62 Dart with air conditioning. The
blower switch is a rotary, 4 position job; the first 2 positions are for low
&
high speed heater / when the air conditioner is on, it serves as a 4 speed
selector for the AC.
My problem: the two highest speeds don't do anything anymore. Any advice
from
anyone who has opened one of these up and fixed it?
Or, any advice on where to get a replacement?

I have also used a tumbler. But I used it with aluminia oxide grain, could
also work with sand, but it will as Ted wrote take quite long time.
Normallly the bolts and nuts have been "tumbling" around a whole day.
