Guys, looking for input on camshaft selection on a 440 based max wedge. I am currently running a 11:0.1 compression 440 with flat forged pistons (no valve notches), with max wedge heads,3447s carbs on a early max crossram, 4speed,4.30 sure grip, current cam is purple shaft .484/.284 hydraulic, max wedge exhaust manifolds, not headers. Not happy with 1/4 mile numbers 13.51/104.3. I am considering .528/.284 solid from M/P. Is it a direct swap without notching pistons? I have heard that notches are not needed unless you exceed 286@ duration. This motor is in a 64 Savoy-looking for 12.50 e.t.Thanks for your suggestions. Tracey.
