I don't know if they make a lock up converter but your right . it would be trick. 
The input shaft change on the early torquflites is so easy it isn't worth rthinking of an alternative. Most trans shops have an old one sitting around that you can buy cheap. 
Thanks for all who responded on the cowl inductuion. I guess I will have to make one. I will start the hunt for a proper air cleaner assembly to start with. No rush so maybe I can do this myself. 
In 266 miles I will have put 10000 miles on my car since finishing . Approx half on the 426 Max Wedge. Fun car to drive on the open road.
