Re: Break In



Some cam manufacturers suggest removing the inner springs (assuming you have
two piece springs) for the cam break in period. I've never done that. My
routine is to prime to oil pump, stab the distributor, and get the timing
where it will run without too much advance.
Then just fire it up and keep it above 2000 rpm for the first 10-15 minutes,
occasionally varying your rpm. Its good to have someone else on the outside
keeping an eye out for any leaks or other problems.
Change the oil and filter after 500 miles and don't hammer on it for the
first 1,000 or so.
