RE: Why does my car go Pop?

My car started popping a few weeks ago, but regularly. It turned out to be a burnt exhaust vavle, so I'd also run a compression test on it.

Got the correct gas cap?
Vacuum in the tank?
Line blocked?
If it always does it stuff a rag in the filler and take her for a spin.
If it stops that might have been it.

Need a little help.

When my car is nice and warmed up and i drive on the freeway just cruising
at 65-70 all of the sudden she will go POP! and run bad for a spell like she
is getting no gas.

I am driving a Dodge 880 with a 361 and what really seems like a low mileage
car bought from the original Older owner. Engine does not smoke at all or
use oil.

The car did this POP even before I changed anything! And still does it today
even though I have changed the intake and carb, put a Pertronix in the
distributor, swapped out the ballast resistor when i put new plugs and wires
in and just recently a new Holley fuel pump with a see thru glass filter
that is never dirty to the naked eye. When running the fuel filter sits
horizontal and is half full of air.

WHAT GIVES?.Is this some kinna vacuum leak? Somewhere or what? Could I have
a bad timing chain?
Car runs great when not doing this POP thing!

James
