Good points Jim. Despite a few gripes, I'm glad FCA is around too! Sergio Marchionne, from what I read, is a car guy before anything else, so that helps a lot to counter that lawyer / accountant mindset.

To plop in another perspective, I recall reading about the chaotic Chrysler Corporation in the  1960-61 period, suffering from consequences of bad build quality, kickbacks, schoolboy management and controversial styling. Like it has done many times since inception, Chrysler turned it around. The "5 year 50,000 mile" introduction in 1963 helped a lot, as did the restyled models.
