Steve,
Thanks very much for the dimensioned sketch of the bent plate I was looking
for. Exactly what I need. I have since found a picture (no dimensions) of
an original tool. It is a good picture because it shows a cross section of the
clip system. I Thought I would post it for interest.

Over on the FOREWARD-LOOK website , in the archives is
a diagram with correct measurements to make a tool . I do well with a 90 degree
bent tip on a butter knife. I think Gary H. showed that in an
earlier post..here...............MO

yeah there is no set screw its just like a 62 Newport or other big boat
Chrysler its a square peg with that metal clip as shown on the eBay picture
you need that tool I don't remember how big the cut is. the notch
is as big as the shaft on a window crank. which is probably somewhere
around half an inch. you can probably get the tool at NAPA still. you do
have to push the door panel in hard in order to get enough space and it is
very difficult to do it because our panels tend to be fragile and break so
I'll just be patient be careful if you can get the right tool that's great if
somebody else might remember or know how big the shaft is, that how big the
notch needs to be it's just so that it can slide over the peg for the for the
window crank handle to go onto and then you pull the the clip toward you with
the tool. It's bent like a fork so you can push it towards the
door panel and it pops to handle out. if its rusted in place or glued on
there you're going to have a very hard time
