14", 15", 16" or 22" wheels have 0 effect on your speedometer, and anyone that tells you it will, is an idiot and should not be selling tires. The width of your tires or wheels have 0 effect on your speedometer, and anyone that tells you it will, is an idiot and should for sure not be selling tires. The height of the tires you use is the determining factor, and nothing to do with wheels. If you have a factory 27 inch tall tire now with a 14 inch wheel and switch to a 27 inch tall tire with a 15 inch wheel there will be 0 change in your speedometer. All you need to do is find a sales person that knows how to find the correct size tire for the wheels you want. The magic number for tires on our cars is "27" that is what they came with. BTW, the height of the front tires has 0 to do with the speedometer, yes you can have shorter tires up front with 0 change of your speedometer! And yes you can have a 22" wheel with a 27" tall tire with 0 effect on your speedometer!! The problem you will have is a 2 1/2" sidewall that will give you a stiffer ride and less acceleration traction from stiff sidewalls.
If the sales person sold you an incorrect height tire to change your speedometer, shame on them, take them back and demand they get same height tire that came off. Now, that all said, if you want to spend a bunch of money on cable adapters, or having a shop change both gears in your tranny press-on with what you have.
