Hi Eric,
Is switching heads a good thing? Do the heads from another engine have to be milled flat first while your current heads will just bold back on? Plus the rebuild? Every 915 I've found the guys wanted as much as Edelbrock aluminum heads for them (when redone).
Here's what I did to my 361.
Summit 600 electric choke carb: new $234 and it kicks ass.
Used Wiend Aluminum Dual plane: Craigslist $75
Luanati Cam: Duration (Int/Exh): 256/262 Lift (Int/Exh): .454/.475
Comp Cams Springs
Stock Exhaust Logs to dual exhaust: Good luck trying to fit headers or HP manifolds
Pertronix I Ignition
Accel 40K volt coil
Heads: Stock I had them cleaned, new seals and a vavle replaced
Plus the usual double roller timing chain and what not.
This combo runs really good. I pull good vacuum and can idle really low ( although I set it higher).
It's not a drag racer, but it'll spin the tires and move out pretty good and still run all day on the highway.
As our cars run a few things off engine vacuum, remember to watch the cam you select.
Lastly, your stock exhaust logs may limit how much those better heads will flow anyways.

I need some help. I am trying to understand the differences between the stock heads on my 1962 Newport and the stock 915 heads from 1967. I've tried reading and re-reading this http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/5115_cylinder_heads/index.html looking at all the numbers and stuff have given me a headach. Are they basicly the same? What's the differences? Are the 915 a better cast than a 924? Is there more HP and TQ you can get out of 915 heads vrs a 924? I can run either on my car, I would like to know what's going to give me the best bang for my buck.
Thanks in advance
