Some basics first...

1. Poly or LA? If the valve covers are fixed with bolts through the
top, it's a Poly. Around the outside it's an LA.

2. If it's a Poly, is the flywheel flange an 8-bolt type - 8 bolt
holes with no thread in them - or a 6-bolt, which has six holes which
are threaded and two holes for dowels?

So there are essentially three types of the 313 engine, the 8-bolt
crank model was built up to 1961 in Canada, the 6-bolt Poly was built
until 1967 in Canada (318 Polys ceased in 1966 in the US). The LA came
after the Poly ceased production.

You will find some casting information on the right hand side (ie.
your passenger's side) of the block.
