Never heard the safety reasoning before, always heard its for vibrations because the line will develop stress cracks if theres no movement. Either way makes sense.

The coils around the line I thought were for difficult/tight bends, as they keep the tubing from collapsing, similar to the coil you buy for heater hoses. Heat dissipation makes sense as well tho...
