--I don't think HP = beast... I want it running smooth with a low rumble, no hesitation and cruise... What should I do?
Sent from my iPhonea 361 in a C-body is not going to run like a beast,,even adding a 4 v carb will only add maybe 8-10 horse, and you will still be at the same level as a B-body with a 318 when it comes to comparing hp to pounds,,,,,,, Me thinks that you would be better off to get your carb professionally rebuilt, and put a good sounding dual exhaust on your car, the other option is engine replacement,,,,,In a message dated 12/10/2011 5:28:01 P.M. And how shitty would my gas be with a 4barrel? It's my daily driver....I want it to run better then ever... And I think a new carb would be nice...
Sent from my iPhonewhat engine?,,,,,,,,,, are you wanting to upgrade to a 4 barrel? or just a new carb?In a message dated 12/10/2011 5:21:08 P.M. Central Standard Time, zachross07@xxxxxxxxx writes:It's a 2 barrel... But I want to upgrade it... I want it to run like a beast... What should I get?
Sent from my iPhoneyou could have your carb professionally rebuilt, I am going to make a suggestion, but it will probably open up a can of dead worms because of all the different opinions out there, but if it were me I would replace it with a new edelbrock,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I am going with the assumption that your carb is a 4 barrelYep... It's got to be the carb... It was doing it before the rebuild.... Do you think buying a new carb would be a good idea? I know the original is the best option... But what do you do if it's shot? How would you go about buying a new one? What would be a good upgrade?
Sent from my iPhoneyes,,,,,,,, or your rebuild,,,,, if it sprays, all is good up to the carbI did that, it sprays out... I'm thinking the carb is shot.... Think that could be the case?
Sent from my iPhonelosen the fitting on the carb and see if gas come out when your cranking the car,,,,,,,,, if there was gas present more than likely the parts between the tank and carb are working, usually a crack or hole in line will result in no gas, only air,,,,,,,,I took the carb off and on about 10 times in the last day.... Every time There is gas in all parts connected... Gas in the fuel filter... Gas comes out of the line attached to the carb when I disconnect it and gas in the carb where the float is when I take it apart....
Sent from my iPhonewas there any gas in the line coming from the tank when you disconnected it from the fuel pump?Yea I didn't test it... It was only 40 bucks... Plus it was dirty and who knows how old... I want to update everything on the car....
Hmmmm any other ideas as to what is wrong with this thing?
