Dash Pad Removal for 64 Polara

Hey guys,
Thanks for your help. I removed the glove box, but it was so old, it mostly
fell apart as I tried to remove it.
45 years in the California desert had pretty well turned it to dust. Had it
been in good shape, I am not sure how I would have gotten it out anyway.
Putting a new one in will take some wisdom from someone who has done it
before. It almost looks like it was attached to the dash before the dash was
installed???

I removed the bottom trim held on by 5 small screws. Then I removed the
glove box.

Had I been a bit smarter, I would have understood that scissor clips
someone told me about are like the wire door clips. Duh! After I saw what the
clips were and sprayed them with WD-40, and was able to pull the dash pad
from the metal dash with my fingers. It came out pretty easy.

The bottom of the vinyl dash pad had what appeared to be a double sided
tape that glued the vinyl to the dash. A small putty knife carefully pushed
along the edge behind the vinyl loosened the vinyl from the tape and the dash
pad lifted off without any effort.

I am passing this on with the hopes that it may help someone else.
Gary thanks for reminding us to change the Subject line. It sure helps find
what your are looking for when looking for advice in old emails.

Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. I.e., send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
