Bill, please keep us informed on your issue with the ignition. Of course every product has a mal function when new at some time or another, I suspicion the coil. Did you put on a new coil, what is it or what is the coil you are using? Are you still using the ballast resistor? Many times a coil will work OK until it gets hot..................................MO

I think I've got it. I went back out last night and of course the car fired right up. I let it idle for a while...wiggling every wire & connector I could get my hands on, tapping on everything electrical, slamming doors, bounced the car, etc, etc...nothing...just kept running. It finally died on it's own after ~15 mins. The only way I could think of to see if it's the Pertronix was this...I broke out my air hose popped the dist cap, and sprayed the Pertronix unit vigorously with compressed air so I could cool it off. As soon as I got it "cooled" again, it fired right up. I'm pretty confident that's it now. Thanks everyone for your help and ideas. Bill MSubject: Let the fun begin... So I decided to take a risk and take the Coronet for a ride yesterday before the new Pertornix got here, and it bit me in the ass...After driving @ 2-3 miles, I came home on e tow truck. We messed around under the hood for a while, checking everything and even replacing the distributor. Once we put the car's distributor back in (it had cooled down but was never "hot") the car fired again. I fired it up this morning figuring I would let it run for a while, get hot, shut down on it's own, then I would "cool" the Pertronix unit w/ compressed air hoping to pinpoint the problem once & for all. Well, after idling in my garage for all of 5 minutes, my wife opened the door to grab something out of the car and when she shut the door...it died immediately.That of course brings in a whole other realm of possible problems. Coincidence? I don't know but there was barely any heat in the engine...let alone the distributor or Pertronix unit. What the &%$@ could be jarred by closing the door that would shut the car down? I'm an automotive electrical idiot so I'm completely stumped. Ideas? Could it be the voltage regulator in the firewall? Anything else?
