I did my headliner, they are not too bad, but it does take patience. Mine went a little easier because both front and back windows were out, that is not a requirement, it's just the way things worked for me. The sides are an area of interest because it is a tight space the headliner tucks up into, pay close attention when taking down the old one. I pulled down my side strips to straighten the teeth but that is probably not necessary. Some people will swear that a steamer is necessary to tighten it up, all you have to do is spritz it with water and roll up the windows and leave it outside on a very hot day and it will tighten itself up.

Every nut and bolt on this car has been touched by me alone, and I
intend to keep it that way. I've built the 426, converted it from
pushbutton to 4 speed, installed a 65 rear end, and am currently
installing an OD trans. I'm hoping if I can do all that I can handle the
headliner install. To me, one the most important parts about owning this
car is doing everything myself. Thanks to all that responded to my
request. I guess if I f%$k it up too bad the first time, I'll take to
someone who knows what they'e doing. Like Clint said " A man's got to
know his limitations"!!

I run an upholstery shop. I just put my headliner in my 65 Coronet. Not
easy to do, but not hard either. If you go onto this website
http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/ and search the interior
section, there is a great thread on installing a headliner that is a
great explaination of what to do. It goes into starting at the rear and
moving to the front etc. Get some glue that you can brush on, and that
is made to take heat, some glues go soft when heated, you do not want
this, you want vinyl top grade, it is made to be manipulated slightly
before it sets and then it sets without heat bothering it, much easier
than a spray can to control overspray and just take your time. Do not
trim until you are happy, use a hair dryer to stretch it and you can get
proffesional results.
Email me off line if you want any other hints.
cheers
Steve
