Re: Tire / spring height questions

Jim,
That is a good price. He will need to press in a new front bushing. Being a spring man he can get them. The rear hangers you can get just the bushings at NAPA. Compared to the stock mopar preformance springs, that is a good price. If u want new springs..get'em. You don't want the cost of wheels get the biggest u can for your 14", your tire store man will know. Pending project, new 15" wheels.

Hi John,

First I'd measure what it's at now. Then give him what I'd want it to
be, and I guess he can make it come out the difference. He said jack
the car up to where I want it and measure, but I'd rather rely on
someone with an existing good setup. I don't have the tires, and I
don't trust myself to estimate what would be right. He's recommended
by the local Mopar guys and has been doing it for 40 years; seems like
he knows. He charges $90 to $120 per spring depending on condition
and such. This includes painting but not bushings. Long Island

I don't understand why measuring from ground to wheel well will help out the spring guy. Doesn't he want to know say 1" more arch from stock?

Or he can add a leaf. Are you saying the difference from the measurement you have now to the new ride ht. is the amount he has to arch the springs??? John Wask...

Jim,

If your question is...Can I run 15" tires on 14" rims? the the answer
is NO. You must run 14" tires on 14" rims.

However, 275/60/15's on 15"x8" rims on the rear and 225/70/15's on
15"x7" rims on the front should fit fine without rubbing. That's the
combo I have on my car and it works great. REALLY fills out the rear
wheel wells nicely!!! I would have to measure tonight to give you a
height for my Coronet.
