RE: Snowstorm damage to my '64

Mark,
What a bummer, sorry to hear. Thanks for the heads-up, though; you
may have spared a few of us from the same fate.

I have that very structure out in front of my barn. We jokingly
refer to it as "Building 3" and for the last 6 months it has housed the '64
Savoy that's getting all the metal work. The Savoy has since been moved to
the new building, but I had envisioned storing another car in "Building 3".
I think we'll just use it for lawn tools and such given your experience.

"Building 2", buy the way, is the cheapo $169 Harbor Freight 8 X 16
portable garage. It is the round top style Derrick mentioned. Surprisingly
is has been standing for nearly 3 years and has survived 2 full Michigan
winters. We did lose one of the pent-roof tents last winter as a result of
heavy snow but "Building 2" survived.

Again, really sorry to hear... holler if there is anything we can do
to help!

SC

Subject: Snowstorm damage to my '64

Well, the east coast blizzard dumped over 24 inches of snow on us this
weekend.
Before it started to snow I made sure to get my 64 Polara convertible tucked
safely into the 12x8x24 garage-out-of-a-box I put up about a year and a half
ago. Turns out I'd have been better off letting it get snowed on...
Yesterday we spent the better parts of the afternoon digging out my
truck(and failing) and then getting my GF's truck out. In the process I
ended up with a nice pair of cuts on the head. After all that, the last
thing I was thinking about was clearing the snow off the garage-tent. At
4AM, when we went to bed, it was fine. Got up this morning and the three
middle tube trusses had failed.
The center truss went through the windshield and the snow-filled canvas is
on the roof of the car.
Tomorrow will be spent digging out the car. I hate it when I get screwed by
doing the right thing.........
