RE: Polling on your best cooling experience; OEM copper radiators and cl

Gary,

I have one more comment for you. I had a stock radiator recored, 3-row
radiator. I had trouble keeping the enigne cool and after new water
pump, electric fan (waste of money)high flow thermostat and shroud I
finally bought a new radiator.

I went with U.S. Radiator and got their Cool Craft #042076 radiator. It
is not listed on their site but it is avaliable, It is a 22" for my 63
SF with a 383.

Most of the time the car is in Yuma and temperatures to 115+ degrees are
not uncommon. This radiator is doing well for me without a shroud
running the stock fan.

I went with this unit becuse it is a copper radiator and a quick look
under the hood it looks completely stock.

I believe it is a 4-row, I need to double check. My concern with more
rows is that the first row gets outside air temperture, the next row
gets the warm air off of the first and so on. As you get more rows the
last rows do not do much cooling. Also with tighter fins (that this one
has) there is more air restriction. I was concerned that the extra row
and more fins would actually reduce air flow enough to be a problem.

U.S. Radiator said I would not have a problem and I didn't. I called
them because they are in Pheonix and have the same summer temperatures I
have in Yuma. It was not cheap. It cost me $539.50 delivered.

I had spent more money than that trying to get what I had working, I was
just throwing money at the wall to see if it would stick!

I don't have the HP that you have, just a 383 with a cam and some head
work.

I'll give you a call when I bring the car back to San Diego.
