I have a similar story, in the summer of '72 my dad found a '68 Roadrunner, that had been sitting for a while due to a burnt valve. I was driving a '67 Chevelle SS-396 at the time. Anyway we got the RR which the silver paint was already faded, fixed the 383, put in a Hurst Competition Plus shifter in it, took out the seats and put buckets in from a wrecked '70 Roadrunner, painted it black and put American wheels on it, sold the Chevelle. Got drafted, the last one to do so in my county, two months after finishing the car. It sat for two years and I ordered a new '75 Vette from the PX in Germany as I was getting out. The RR was sold to who knows who. Still have the Vette but would trade it for the RR in a second. Carlisle bound in 3 hours!
