NO!  They come out pretty easy you don't need to strike them that hard or
that many times to do harm!  $$ I feel your pain!!  The way I described is
probably the most cost effective.  Wakeman;s way is good also it just
entails a little more work pulling the axles and a slight possibility of
getting the studs in canted but when you install a wheel they should true-up
  His way is less racheting and more hammering but both ways lead to the
same end!

As with alot of people, $ is a little tight right now, and that's why
I'm leaning towards doing it myself.
 
Am I going to trash the bearing or something in the carrier if I bang
the studs out on the car?
