Layne, that is correct. I recently bought some brackets from  Schumacker for 
my Dodge 440 with big block.  I felt just like you--this can't be correct- 
but it is. Tranny mounts lined right up as well as the engine mounts. Since 
then I have seen pics showing the same -- must be a clearance issue 
somewhere...........................MO......sw   iowa
