Thanks for the correction about MoPar.  I had read that a sale was pending last year, but guess it never happened.
 
I agree that parts that are using the logo, etc. should definitely be licensed.  From what I have seen in some of the press releases, the issue is whether or not Layson's was making them with the pentastar and/or identifying/selling them as repops.  If they weren't logoed or sold as "official" Chrysler parts, it wold seem that Chrysler overstepped a little (the police a lot).  I doubt that Chrysler is worried about the quality of aftermarket parts sullying their reputation.  I think it's simply about money and a Chrysler show of force.  
 
To me one of the big issues is whether Chrysler's licensing structure is so onerous as to put manufacturers of quality parts out of business.  That in my opinion is bad.  The solution seems to be to pop the parts without any logos, etc. and market them that way.  If they are quality parts they will still sell, regardless of their markings.  If they suck the marks won't matter.
