Most Mopar car shows I go to have at least one class set up for AMC and all 
the companies that became AMC including Rambler, Nash, Hudson and Willys. I 
believe that it was 1967 that AMC was formed. I remember talking to a lady 
who had a 67 Marlin (at a Mopar show) and she told me the 67 Marlin was an 
AMC and the 65 and 66 Marlins were Ramblers. There's also a 65 Rambler 
Ambassador convertible in my Mopar club. I'm not sure exactly what year it 
was that Chrysler bought AMC but it was my understanding that they bought it 
for the Jeep and the Eagle but the Eagle didn't pan out like they planned.

My friend Bill has an AMC Rambler American 2 door hardtop. Not sure of the 
year, 67 I think. It was a stick 6 when he bought it but he turned it into a 
Rambler Scrambler clone complete with the red, white and blue paint job and 
square hood scoop. The engine started out as an AMC 390 but I'm not sure 
what the specs are now because this engine came out of a Jeep pulling truck 
and has been bored and stroked. The tranny is all Mopar inside but he did 
have to find an AMC case to put it in. The one thing it still needs is a 
better rear end because he's blown up 3 of them. And even with skinny street 
tires it practically pulls the front wheels off the ground. Awhile back he 
was on his way to get gas when a young guy in a Mustang Cobra wanted to play 
with him. After Bill blew his doors off (and I mean completely off) he 
followed Bill into the gas station yelling "What the hell is that thing?" 
(Being under 30 he'd probably never seen a Rambler American before) Bill 
just smiled and said "You know the song The Little Nash Rambler? Beep Beep! 
Beep Beep!" LOL  My one regret is that about 4 or 5 years ago he offered to 
sell me the car for $3,500. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't take him 
up on it because now he doesn't want to sell it anymore.
