 two check valves. One under the diaphram , make sure it is clean and free and there is a wieghted needle under the pump nozzle screw. 
Adjusting nut must be set so any movement of the throtle from idle stop gives pump action. BUT nut must be set so at full open the pump arm can be pulled at least 015" away from the actuating lever . This is so the pump diaphram wont be overstretched and leak. or rupture.  800 cfm better be over 400 cubes otherwise he is suckin eggs. You can fool your mom or your girl friend or the neighbours but you can't fool the laws of nature and physics , not once not ever
