Rich,,,,,,,,,,I have not read Don's book lately,,,,,,,,,so  going off of 
memory,,,,,,,wasn't that being done so as for better  flow,,,,,,,,,,,,and mixing 
of primary and secondary incoming  fuel,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not sure this would 
apply to your multi. carb. set  up,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they should already be flowing 
all that you need, and with  proper jetting, should be supplying plenty to all 
intake  runners
