This might not help at all, cause it was years and years ago, but I had them on a '64 Dodge with a Hemi.  I had solid engine mounts, and skinny front tires, and clearance was not a problem.  Skinny tires I think is a must, cause it was close when at full turn.  The looks and the sound is fantastic.  
I doubt performance was any better than what I saw from under body Hooker headers at that time, but the look of them scared the hell outa them chebby guys.  Maybe they have changed since I used them (I'm thinking early '80's when I had that car), but the cool factor remains the same
I've been tempted over and over to put them on my '63, just for fun.
