fuel tank filter

Clear DayHi all, sent this out once already but it came back so don't know 
if it went out or not. I'm changing my fuel tank on my 64 Dodge 440, I 
pulled the sending unit out and it is in good shape, but there is a filter 
at the end of the fuel line that goes into the tank, that seems to be 
connected to the line. Does that come off? Please don't tell me I have to 
buy a whole new sending unit to replace this filter. Any ideas? Thanks...
