Make sure the plug hole is shiny clean and free of defects (like a small pit) before you install the new plug. Opinions vary, but it won't hurt to coat outside of the new plug with a product like red locktight, Pematex hi-tac, brush-on Permatex, etc. to prevent a small leak.
