Freeze plug removal & replacement.

OK everyone. I've heard about doing this, but have never done it before. To  
remove the freeze plugs from a Slant 6, just use a screwdriver and tap on one  
side of the plug to try to get it to turn sideways in the hole. Then you can  
pull it out with a vise grips. to put it back in, use a socket about the size 
of  the plug, and tap it back in straight. I'm going to try to clean out my 
block. I  have a feeling it might be overheating because of a bunch of "stuff" 
settled in  the bottom of the block. It sat for about 7 years before I bought 
it with only  water in the block. I don't need to use any sealer on the plugs 
do I? Any help  is greatly appreciated.
