B Body tapered axle inner seals

After ruining several inner axle seals attempting to drive them into the
rear axle tube of my 64 Sport Fury B body, I finally got two to go in
'almost' straight and not bent, using a tool I bought at the auto supply
store. Still, I'm not convinced I did a really good job of this. They don't
look quite 'factory'. Also, there are small springs that go around the
circumference of the rubber seal on the inside, which popped off on both
seals as I drove them in. I did manage to manipulate them back around the
rubber seal from the backside of the seal, but again this may be an
indication that I really am not on track as to how to do this. Any advice
would be appreciated. Thanks/Butch/ Ferndale, WA
