RE: another kick down question

I think the TH400 on my GTO used an electric switch for kickdown.

Ford and Chevy use a vaccum operated kickdown, which really sucks with a hot motor.

OK so it looks like Lokar or Bouchillon. Now my next question is WHY?
WHY are the mopars so sensitive about the kickdowns??
I understand the other brands dont need them but Torqueflites will"
  burn up" with out them.
what does that mean exactly. all I ever hear are vague reasons like
"you'll burn it up",not a good enuf answer for Mr. Busybody
I want to know what actually happens in the tranny and why the other
  brands dont need them.
Thanks. growing grumpier by the minute and hating my mopars even
  more,
