Mike, One piece of advice I do have for you is making sure you completely remove all undercoating anywhere close to the areas you will be welding. The metal in these old cars is not the best, and the presents of undercoating will really mess up welds. When you mentioned cutting back the frame rail, if there is any undercoating between the half's, it is going to melt the top half off like butter when you start to weld. The lower half of the frame is the thickest metal, and the floor pan metal is the worst. A good suggestion is to practice on some of the pieces you cut out. If you're a good welder, you won't have an issue after a couple of practice passes. Earl Great. I am looking forward to the pics. I cut the right wheel well in half today. Most of the time was spent cleaning all the undercoating off. It looks like I should also cut the lip of the frame rail to get another inch of clearance. Looks like all I would need to do is reweld the frame rail to the floor pan along the edge. Any opinions on this? I am hoping to be able to fit N-50X15 Mickeys (14.1" section width). If everything works out, I'll get the housing to Moser next week for shortening and axles. I have already halfed my wheel wells and they came out GREAT! As for the rear seat mounts (mine is a '64 B body), I cut the wheel well on the inside (toward center of car) of the mount so it remains in it's stock location. I also managed to keep the mounts that hold the wiring harness in the stock location (driver side). Most everything seems straight forward, BUT, what will I have to do to mount the rear seat again? Will I have to modify the seat frame? > > '65 Coronet 500 stroker > -- [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
