Also you can get the 8 1/4 rear ends from 80s dodge vans. I have an 84 dodge van that has the 8 1/4 and my 86 has the 8 1/4. I am considering installing one in my 66 valaint wagon.

OK, well theres a graveyard here full of A-body Darts, Valiants and
Dusters and most still have their rears. Unfortunately they are the 8.25
variety.
So if I used a later 8.25 A-body rear I would- A) Pay much, much less
   for it
                                                  B)Get the 4 on 5.5
                                                  bolt pattern axles
   BUT!!-
How tough is the 8.25 rear and how many gears and sure grip units
    are available for it.
Would it hold up to a stout 340 or maybe even a stroker 360
It is a very, very light car, that would help hold down parts
        breakage i guess.
