I cant confirm that as i dont have an early set too look at. I have a set of 346 heads from a 73 440 with hardened seats. If you were to look at a NOS set of heads, its prety clear which ones are induction hardened and which one arent. You can see the ring around the seat where the induction took place. BTW for anyone redoing a set of heads with hardened seats, many shops do not hot tank their parts any more, they bake them in an oven to 800 degrees then shot blast them. A friend of mine who is a mechanical engineer,(he is a mopar guy btw) told me that process may weaken or eliminate the induction hardening. For what its worth, at any rate. Doc.
