How about a Doug Nash 5 speed?  They're strong, supposedly  bulletproof, BUT, 
you can't shift hard in them....it'll momentarilyh hesitate  when you hit the 
neutral gate.  When I called Richmond Gear, they said  "thats right...it's 
strong, but not meant for racing...if you want to race, get  a race version Doug 
Nash".  The only problem is the race version has no  synchros and are 
straight cut gears...very noisy.
