I just did the same kind of swap on my '64 Dodge last summer, but with
a 413 instead of a 383.  I probably did things the hard way, but here
it is anyway:

The big block federal pump has a longer pulley shaft than the poly's
pump, so they don't interchange.  The diameter of the shaft is also
larger, so you can't reuse the pulley either.  So, I ended up buying a
big block federal pump on ebay for something line $10 that had a
pulley.  Went to NAPA and got a new pump (that didn't come with a
pulley), swapped the pulley onto the new pump and returned the ebay
pump as the core.  I don't remember where off the top of my head, but
some place on the web had brackets for the pump.  I was able to re-use
the old high-pressure hose to the steering box.

I ended up getting a remote oil filter kit and an electric fan.
