  OOPs! I guess i should have mentioned that the guy rigged up
  electronic ignition to this car, that probably changes everything- but
  the problems the same: a persistent  (every 10-15 seconds) pull to
  discharge side on alt gauge, a slight dimming of lights and that darn 
  blinker-type sound when it pulls.
   I did chek the alt and the car does have the correct( two field
   terminal) alternator.
  The rest of the setup though I think could be done wrong.
