Tom,

I will disagree with that. In my neck of the woods almost every poly we
find has never been
touched. We took 3 polys to the scrap yard last month that were 60K
motors. The motors are
so good that most people never needed to rebuild them.

Earl

A standard bore poly is like a needle in a haystack.
How many are there left and from that how many haven't been rebuilt? A
slim few might not have been bored too. I have a spare block but I
can't say whether it's been cut or not, I know it's been rebuilt. What
pistons would you get for it anyway after it's cut? The rings will make
the bore change whether 10-30 over, not the pistons. How bad's the
crack? Tig over filler if it's not a stress crack might be an option.

Well gang,
I was playing under the car and was putting things back together... I
found out I have a cracked block right in the lower water jacket. So, I
now have two options, 1) Find a standard bore poly block somewhere near
Dayton, Oh. for cheap, or 2) Sell all my poly parts and put the 440
together....

I have to find a standard bore for the poly block because that is what I
have pistons for and can't afford right now to get more. As for the 440,
it is .030 over already and I have a set of pistons for it, but the
heads will have to be done and other parts found for it, like oil pan,
motor mounts etc.

So, any suggestions from the group?

Greg
