Has anyone out there ever made their own custom gauge panel/dashboard?  I'm considering making one for my Polara 500, since my gauges are shot, and right now it would be easier and cheaper to get a sheet of 1/8" aluminum, cut it to fit, and mount some new gauges up to it.
 
Any thoughts, suggestions?  I'll be able to keep the car original, since I won't be cutting any of the dash at all.
