RE: 727 or 904

The difference between the two trannys is the tranny pan. Here is a pic of
the 727 pan

Subject: 727 or 904

Hi folk

Please excuse this obvious question but what is the easiest way to tell the
difference between a 727 and 904? The service manual for 1965 B bodies shows
the 727 is a slip yoke and 904 is a trunion drive shaft for this year. I
have a big block (500 MPcrate motor). When I pulled the trans, it has a
trunion. My guess its a 727 since it is a big block and it was swapped at
some point.

Can a 904 work with a big block? I did not see any adaptor plates under
there.
Where are the serial numbers that I can reference?

Thanks in advance for your help. As for the thread about 1st Mopars. This is
my first, and thank to this group, I learn more and more each day. Thanks
everyone.
