I believe the covers will grip the plastic coating better than the steel of the wheel itself. Probably slightly more difficult to install the covers.

I finally have gathered rims, tires and wheelcovers (the D, G, H J covers) to convert the K to 15 in wheels. While I acknowledge this would not be original I am consdiering powdercoating the rims but was wondering how that will effect the grip of the wheelcovers if at all. At the price of the covers I would hate to lose one or more.
