
In 1977 we syphoned it from our parents' cars, sometimes neighbor's. We bemoaned the cost of driveshafts u-joints and tires, those seemed to perish more quickly back then, especially on various parents 440 equipped 300 Sports, New Yorkers and Town & Country wagons.
Replacement wheel covers could be a burden, beer and liquor were expensive, along with certain unmentionables, but gas not so much.
