I ordered my 300K panels last year and paid a 50% deposit. Sent them my panels in May and last talked to them in August about them and an existing DeSoto door panel order that needed to be delivered before the first of September. They hadn't started on the 300K panels and said they were working on the DeSoto panels and that they would be ready and shipped to me. Of course I still don't have them. They are for a friend in Australia and I was shipping a Fury there and planned to put the panels in it.

BTW, I called Quiery to order cat's whiskers for my 300K so I can send the door ones off to SMS. They no longer sell them. They sold the business to AMS Obsolete in Georgia. www.AMSNOS.com. 706-337-4606.

SMS did the white door panels for my 64 K. Quality is good. They look great. Prices are a bit high but not a lot of choices out there. Good originals are getting difficult to find. They told me 3-4 months turnaround time. Actual time was just short of 2 years. Was told many times along the way next month. Never happened. They are definitely not honest when giving time frame. If you’re not in a hurry go with them. Hopefully you have an extra set. Driving a car without door panels isn’t pleasant. Especially for 2 years.

It's not like looking for parts for a Mustang, GTO, Camaro, or even a Model A or Model T.

It's just not worth it for most companies to bother with trying to supply unique parts for low production cars from 60 years ago. We're not even talking about A, B, or E body Mopars.

We were/are extremely fortunate to have folks like Gary Goers, Greg Leggatt (wiring) and Jeff Carter to champion our efforts to keep these cars looking good and running well. Also kudos to Quirey for trying to carry on Gary's work, and Van's for some of the reproduction stuff they do.

Thankfully, we still have Mr. Grady, Mr. Merritt, and other club members chipping in with their various skill sets.

It's even getting harder to find non-specific things like machine shops, radiator shops, transmission shops, etc, not to mention the escalating costs of paint and chrome work.

All we can do is to try and support those businesses that we all hope we never need, but hope are still in business when we do, and to spread the word to the rest of the members whenever a new vendor (or trusted, but not widely known vendor) is discovered.

I don't think it's going to get any easier as time marches on.

Don Petty is advertising the availability of many Arizona parts for 300's. It may be time to load up on whatever you think you may need in the future for your current fleet or future project.

I’ve seen several anecdotal experiences related on the list server (mostly concerning very long intervals for some things) but was wondering what the group thought on getting a set of seat covers (non Goers and non Legendary, which is NA in this case) from them?

I have a ‘64 R2 Super Hawk that needs seat covers in green vinyl and my usual source, Studebakers International, just informed me that their vendor can’t provide them (after I ordered them two months ago.)

I called SMS and they said they could (at about 60% higher cost) and will send me some samples. They also said a 2-3 month interval to get them (which I’m okay with.)

I seem to recall some club members saying they’ve waited years for things from SMS so was curious what the group thought overall?
