{Chrysler 300} 1961 Chrysler VIN stamping

Not sure if this is mentioned somewhere, but I'm working on a 1961 New Yorker station wagon and found a stamping of the VIN number above the heater blower motor in the engine bay.

Is this a common location for 1961 cars? I don't recall it on the G coupe I was working on last year. It would be totally hidden by the heater box.
