Thanks John, I’ve wondered about that clearance issue. Interesting that they modified the hood.

The filter element on the 4 speed cars was taller and the way the extra clearance was accomplished is the removal of the angled hood brace above that area.

Is the filter element really different? Attached is a photo of the Gregg Ziegler "Flying Mile" 300F engine compartment I took in 2008 at the Monterey auction where the car was displayed. As you point out, there is a noticeable gap at the bottom of the air cleaner that the 375 HP cars don't have. Could it be the same filter element with a shorter air cleaner top? Theoretically this would provide less restrictive engine breathing. If the filters were actually taller, wouldn't hood clearance be an issue?

From the photos I’ve seen of the engines in these cars, it looks like the AC filter element is taller in the same housing as the stock 375hp cars?

Does anyone know what the Wix, et al part number would be?
