John, Chrysler did not own the nonsense which is the capillary tube controlled heater valve manufactured by Ranco Corporation. My 1956 Cadillac our 1960 Buicks and a whole host of other medium priced and up American cars use that stupid valve, which works exactly as you describe. No heat when you want it and heat when you don't and hot water on the floor occasionally when you least expect it. I had two interior rugs ruined by that small gasket on the valve shaft failing .It fails on a very hot day when pressure is on it from radiator, so not a drip a huge instant flood of hot antifreeze . The whole idea of temp regulating water in a car heater is just flat out not too swift , or Chrysler’s brother in law owned that company . I use a heater valve from a 78 dodge truck , it is designed to just be supported in line by the heater hose .Thot lets you place it so the stock bowden wire length works . no bracket needed , straight line . And then when you want heat you get it , not later on if thermo valve is happy . Too much ? push lever it stops instantly , not like the thermo valve that wants to argue about it .. maybe . This kind of direct heat control was in every dart , and i loved it . Much more so than fancy stuff today . Hummer valve is similar and cheaper , i have seen 15$ on ebay , but may work opposite way . You can live with that or modify which side the cable sheath is attached to , to turn it around functionally . Agree , done with this hassle ,goes into trash can next to heat riser valve from rams On Sep 4, 2024, at 12:13 PM, 'James Douglas' via Chrysler 300 Club International <chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: -- For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylang --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Chrysler 300 Club International" group.
