Drew: I realize my friends here on the Server have opinions on paint. Some of these may be valid but I’d ignore them. Get your advice about paint from body shop professionals experienced with modern coatings. You want to speak with those who perform the work professionally to understand what is possible and what it will cost. Paint technology has changed substantially in the last decade or so. Much of the conventional wisdom concerning paint circulated here is conventional, a lot of it is short of wisdom. I understand you are not in New England. However my most trusted paint and body expert is Michael LaBrecque of LaBrecque Autocraft in East Windsor CT. The car is all original paint except the original lid had inclusion in it so I need to replace it. The replacement I have is in good solid shape, I am sure will need some prep work but great starting point. My biggest concern is the color match as I can not blend it because I do not want to disturb original paint. I want to just do this trunk lid and swap it to keep the originality. Not afraid to drive a ways. The biggest thing is that it is done right the first time and last the life time of the car. I have been waiting on a local shop for 2 years with no results. I think they just don't want to get into it because they know how picky I will be about the color match. Any help is much appreciated. --
