The only paint supplier that seems to be able to provide paints with fine metallics anymore to best reflect this era correctly is TCP Global from my extensive searches. Their capability of matching colors is also the best I have found and their paint products are high quality.  I use them for all my restoration projects and am very pleased with them.

You will find that the biggest issue will be if the original color had metallic in it. The modern metallics tend to have flakes that are of a different size than the older paints. They reflect light differently and as such will make any match much more difficult.

I am in need of a good body and paint shop, concourse level to prep and paint a trunk lid for a red 62 300. The car is all original paint except the original lid had inclusion in it so I need to replace it. The replacement I have is in good solid shape, I am sure will need some prep work but great starting point. My biggest concern is the color match as I can not blend it because I do not want to disturb original paint. I want to just do this trunk lid and swap it to keep the originality. Not afraid to drive a ways. The biggest thing is that it is done right the first time and last the life time of the car. I have been waiting on a local shop for 2 years with no results. I think they just don't want to get into it because they know how picky I will be about the color match. Any help is much appreciated.
