My headliner for the 300K showed up today. $400 plus dollars and six weeks late. Too bad I must send it back and ask for a refund. Someone took an “internal bow” headliner and tried to turn it into an external bow headliner. The just placed the bow cardboard over an internal bow part and sewed it down. This leads to a couple of issues. One is that getting the cardboard
dead straight is tough. The other is that it can create wrinkles that are sewn into the headliner. Mine has both. But the big issue is the cardboard material width. Theirs is almost 1/8 inch wider. The bows can barely be slipped on. In my case about 2.5 inches. Then it binds as the cardboard is not straight. There is a reason the factory used 0.620-inch-wide
cardboard and not 0.705 inch carboard. You need a little wiggle room as the bow is dead straight and any wiggle in the cardboard stich needs the room or it will bind. When the factory made theirs, they placed the cardboard and both sides of the pleat in a line (stacked) and then sewn it together in one shot. Thus, making the pleat and the card board parallel and avoiding over sewing which almost always
leads to wrinkles. How disappointing.
